Abstract: 11-Merili is the ornithological journal of Birdlife Malta. It serves as a medium&#xD;
for the publication of articles and short notes dealing with any aspect of&#xD;
ornithology having a bearing on the Maltese Islands and the Mediterranean. It&#xD;
also carries systematic lists of birds recorded in the Maltese Islands as&#xD;
well as bird ringing reports.</summary>

Abstract: This report covers the ringing activities of the Valletta Bird Ringing Scheme, run by Bird life Malta, for the years i 997-&#xD;
1999. During the three-year period under review the licensed ringers were John Attard Montalto, John J. Borg, Denis&#xD;
Cachia, Victor Cilia, Charles Coleiro, Raymond Galea, Charles Gauci, Mark Gauci, Mario V. Gauci, John Grech,&#xD;
Manwel Mallia, Joseph M. Mangion and Joe Sultana. John Middleton, a B.T.O. ringer, also helped in ringing during his&#xD;
regular visits to Malta. Charles Gauci and Mark Gauci, Ringing Secretary and Assistant Ringing Secretary respectively,&#xD;
were responsible for the compilation of the ringing data and for the bi-monthly ringing newsletter.</summary>

Abstract: This list of birds occurring in the Maltese Islands during the years 1996-1999 has been compiled from the&#xD;
observation records, which were submitted by several observers, as well as from the daily log of birds of the nature&#xD;
reserves at Ghadira and Simar. The regular contributors for the 4 years under review were John Attard Montalto,&#xD;
Edward Bonavia, John J. Borg, Denis Cachia, Alex Casha, Charles Coleiro, Raymond Galea, Charles Gauci,&#xD;
Mario V. Gauci, Mark Gauci, John Grech, Manuel Mallia, Joseph M Mangion, Michael Sammut, Joe Sultana, and&#xD;
Louis Vella. Other contributors were David Attard, ian Balzan, Norman Bonavia, Richard Cachia Zammit, T. Cantwell,&#xD;
Norman Chetcuti, Victor Cilia, Mark Anthony Falzon, Caldon Mercieca, John Middleton, Julian Moulton, ian Mifsud,&#xD;
Marvic Sammut, Simon Suda, Mark Sultana, Justin Vassallo and Ray Vella.&#xD;
Various members contributed their records through the Birders Diary Programme, which is co-ordinated by Manwel&#xD;
Mallia. Records of species, which have appeared less than twenty times in the Maltese islands, and which are appearing&#xD;
in this list have been controlled by John Attard Montalto Co-ordinator of the Rarities Committee.</summary>
