Abstract: The author attempts to trace the footsteps of Maltese painter Nicholas Cammillieri who was  mistaken as being a separate individual from a certain Nicolas Camilleri. The painter worked on his art in Marseille and eventually returned to Malta yet it is not known why he travelled to France in the first place.</summary>
