Abstract: Il-Professur Gużè Aquilina jikkritika l-leġġenda antikwata tal-inferjorità tal-mara, billi janalizza opinjonijiet ħorox ta’ teoloġi u qaddisin bħal Tertuljanu u San Ġwann Krisostmu bħala preġudizzji personali u mhux tagħlim tal-Knisja. L-awtur jargumenta li d-diskriminazzjoni hija bbażata fuq l-arroganza tar-raġel u l-misinterpretazzjoni tal-Ġenesi, fejn l-imħabba u s-sħubija għandhom ikunu l-pedament tar-relazzjoni.

Abstract: F’dan l-artiklu soċjali l-Professur Gużè Aquilina janalizza l-bidliet fl-attitudnijiet tas-soċjetà lejn il-moralità u s-sess. L-awtur jargumenta li s-soċjetà permissiva biddlet dan l-aspett f’ossessjoni u oġġett ta’ kummerċjaliżmu filwaqt li neżżgħetu mid-dinjità u r-responsabbiltà morali tiegħu. Aquilina jikkritika l-influwenza tal-midja u l-isfruttament finanzjarju filwaqt li jenfasizza l-bżonn li l-intelliġenza umana tiggwida l-instinti naturali skont valuri morali sodi.

Abstract: This article examines newly uncovered archival evidence showing that Grand Master Jean de Valette had at least one illegitimate son, Barthelemy de Valette, later legitimised by King Charles IX of France. It explores the legal, social, and moral implications of illegitimacy in the 16th century and how this hidden episode complicates the traditional image of de Valette as an austere religious leader.

Title: Mixed marriages in the early British period
Abstract: The article examines mixed marriages in Malta during the early British period, focusing on unions between Catholics and Protestants and the tensions they created. Using legal cases, it shows how British civil law often overruled Catholic authority, especially in matters of family life and child upbringing. These marriages reveal wider social and religious anxieties linked to colonial rule.
