Abstract: The item contains photocopies of 28 notices, proclamations and other government documents issued by the Order of the Council in May-June 1813. The documents (among others) stipulate various restrictions to prevent the spread of the disease and bring forth the information on the number of deaths within the last 24 hours as well as the names and surnames of persons who have fallen sick under suspicious symptoms. All notices are in English and Italian.</summary>

Abstract: On March 22, 1989, Christie's Robson Lowe sold by auction in London the important "Francisco" collection of Maltese postal history. One of the star items in that sale was a letter with the extremely rare 1817 'MALTA' handstamp (MLL). The auction catalogue, following previous publications, states: "This handstamp was only in use from 23rd March until14 July 1817, and has only been seen in letters from naval personnel.
