Authors: Jarząbek, Dorota; Drwięga, Kinga
Abstract: PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze influence of sea temperature on
oil spill at constant air temperature. The possibility of using computer simulation to
predict the behavior of oil spills at sea enables both to make better use of the forces
and resources at their disposal to control them. Therefore, an attempt was made to
analyze effect of selected simulation parameters (related to hydro meteorological
conditions) on the response of the oil spill depending on the type of spill (type of oil
spilled) under the same simulated weather conditions.; METHODOLOGY: The study was conducted using a Pisces II oil spill simulator.
Crude oil at various densities (light, medium and heavy) was tested at different sea
water temperatures.; FINDINGS: On the basis of the research carried out, data were obtained showing the
relationship between temperature and the physical properties of crude oil.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Researches presented can have direct influence in studies
regarding the effectiveness of Oil spill cleaning up operations.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Studies conducted under simulated conditions have shown the
relationship of oil spill behavior to existing hydro meteorological conditions.

Title: International trade in goods and services of Poland
Authors: Szyguła, Wacław; Łuczka, Teresa
Abstract: PURPOSE: The aim of the article is to examine how Poland's international trade is shaped in the
context of exports and imports of goods and services in 2010–2017. Therefore, additional,
detailed research questions were posed: (1) what are the basic directions of Polish exports and
imports? (2) What is the balance of trade in goods? (3) What groups of goods are most often
exported from Poland? (4) What Polish services are most often exported?; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The survey of an illustrative nature was conducted based on the
available source literature, own research as well as statistical data and results published by
research institutions. First, general national data are presented, and then data for voivodships
and voivodship cities.; FINDINGS: The greatest export of Polish goods is to Germany and other European countries. It is
similar in the case of Polish imports, which mainly come from: Germany, China, Russia, and
other European countries. The balance of Polish trade in goods is positive with European
countries, and negative with the countries of Far East Asia. The structure of trade in goods and
services is very diverse. The highest values in services in 2017 were recorded for: transport
services; foreign travel; telecommunications, IT and information services; refinements.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The research results can be used to manage, support, and develop
international trade, both by domestic decision makers and managers in enterprises, as well as for
foreign trade partners.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The conducted research contributed to the narrowing of the research gap
concerning the structure of Polish foreign trade, especially in the context of groups of goods and
services. This topic is taken up, despite appearances, quite rarely, usually limited to studying the
directions of geographical expansion.

Title: A change in management perspective on the implementation of the employee capital plans in Poland
Authors: Szczepański, Marek; Kołodziejczyk, Krzysztof
Abstract: PURPOSE: The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how a change management perspective
contributes new understandings about the Employee Capital Plans (PPK) implementation
processes in Poland, especially their efficiency measured by participation of the employees.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: For the research, methods of critical literature analysis,
statistical methods, as well as description and explanation methods have been used.; FINDINGS: In financial terms, the PPK program turned out to be very beneficial for its participants
in the analyzed period. However, contrary to the assumptions of change leaders, it has not been
universal so far and covered slightly more than 25% of those eligible to participate. The attitude
of employers related to the introduction of the PPK in their workplace remains crucial.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Bad experience related to the reduction and expected liquidation of OFE
(second, funded pillar of the public pension system) exacerbated the problem of the lack of trust
in the Polish pension system. A cross-party agreement on retirement security should be built so
that citizens regain faith in the state and its institutions.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The implementation of a new company pension scheme can be explored from
various aspects. Most often, analyzes are conducted from the perspective of pension economics
(the impact of a new pension scheme on the level of financial security of elderly people and on the
increase of savings in national economy). The added value of the article is the assessment of the
Employee Pension Plans implementation as a change management process.

Authors: Stasiuk-Piekarska, Anna
Abstract: PURPOSE: The aim of the article is to present in-depth results of the study, which was carried out
to check the sense of health and general well-being of employees working at home.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: To achieve the goal, the respondents were asked about the
approach of the management of organizations from various industries in terms of organizing work
during the COVID-19 pandemic, and employees were also asked about their work from home,
attitude to this type of work, their housing and other possibilities. The study was based on the
CAWI computer-assisted diagnostic survey. The research tool was a self-questionnaire. The
questionnaires in the period from 12 to 21 November 2020 were completed by 95 respondents
aged 18 to 59. The basic results are presented in the article: "The impact of remote work on
human well-being".; FINDINGS: As a result, it turned out that women more often feel the psychological and physical
effects of a pandemic, and men are more unanimous in their indications (e.g., weight gain, mood
drops, etc.). In addition, it turned out that employees of medium and large enterprises can count
on the greatest support in the field of organizational changes.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The conclusions drawn based on the analyzes are a signpost for the
individualization of solutions by organizations in supporting the achievement of a sense of mental
and physical well-being of their employees.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The research on impact of COVID-19 on well-being and comfort of employees
have been conducted all over the world since the pandemic hit the world. Providing various
perspectives, social and economical background can improve resilience of companies and
economies in the future, disregarding the type and duration of crises to come.
