    <summary type="text">Title: Adapting a Maltese poem into an animated short film
Abstract: Throughout history, literature and poetry have been adapted and translated into&#xD;
various media and art forms. Different artists have taken their own spin on how&#xD;
to adapt a piece of poetry, adapting it into still images, plays and music. The&#xD;
relatively more recent medium of film has also taken an interest in adapting&#xD;
poetry and with this interest came the creation of the genre of film known as&#xD;
poetry films.&#xD;
This research project is focused on learning about poetry films and the different&#xD;
elements of film including timing, colour and other elements. This dissertation&#xD;
focuses on the theory behind film and looks at different artists of influence. The&#xD;
dissertation also discusses how my practice research component has been&#xD;
located within a theoretical framework and how what I learnt has been applied&#xD;
to my own animated poetry film. The film is based on the Maltese poem                            &#xD;
‘In-Nannu l-Aħmar’ written by my grandfather.&#xD;
This research project aspires to learn more about the medium of film and&#xD;
animation, discovering how these two intertwine while learning on adapting&#xD;
literature and text into visuals. The end-product being an animated poetry film&#xD;
created by myself

    <summary type="text">Title: A siren's tale : exploring visual narrative through an adaptation of a Maltese folklore tale
Abstract: The aim of this study is that of exploring a graphic sequential narrative that concerns a sequential&#xD;
art adaptation of the Maltese mythological tale ‘Is-Sirena tal-Isla’ (the Siren of Isla). The discussions&#xD;
addressed in this project-based research will tackle theories of sequential art as propogated by&#xD;
Scott McCloud, Will Eisner and others. Maltese folklore and 19th century Maltese landscape&#xD;
paintings were also researched to adapt this tale. This study also explores sequential narratives&#xD;
within a digital space in order to observe how the art from changes within the medium. A number&#xD;
of qualitative research methods were used within the process of completing the final project. One-to-one interviews were also carried out in order to enrichen the research and eventual storyline. A&#xD;
loose script based on my own interpretation of the narrative was used as a reference when creating&#xD;
the final project. The resulting graphic narrative will be presented in both a physical printed format&#xD;
as well as on an online web-based platform.

    <summary type="text">Title: Exploring the space between clothing and the female body through film photography
Abstract: This dissertation was prompted by the sexualisation that takes place towards&#xD;
the female body, and an interest to explore the multitude of relationships that&#xD;
different women have with their bodies. Expression through both nudity and&#xD;
clothing was explored, through the desk research and also through the practice&#xD;
based research. The research carried out looked into the evolution of nudity in&#xD;
art and photography, various influential artists whose work was revolutionary to&#xD;
the topic, from a psychological aspect through psychoanalysis, and nudity’s&#xD;
acquired attributions to shame and embarrassment, to attempt to understand&#xD;
it’s origins. For the project section, 14 women were photographed, clothed and&#xD;
unclothed, with the exception of those that only chose to be photographed&#xD;
clothed. As part of the methodology, all participants were interviewed, along&#xD;
with interviews carried out with prominent Maltese artists whose work touches&#xD;
upon the field. As for the presentation of the project final work, the&#xD;
photographs were curated into a publication, titled; un / clothed. A safe space&#xD;
for expression was created, from woman to woman.

    <title>Conceptual modular design within platform engineering</title>

    <summary type="text">Title: Conceptual modular design within platform engineering
Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the development of a conceptual and&#xD;
modular, prototype car chassis design. This study triangulates desk research,&#xD;
interviews and more importantly, practice-based research methodologies. The&#xD;
prototyping model is used extensively in this study in order to create a fully&#xD;
functional prototype. The prototype’s functionality is explored in order to discover&#xD;
which industries it may satisfy due to its customizability capabilities.&#xD;
A professional automotive concept designer was chosen to participate in an&#xD;
in-depth interview. The scope of this interview was to reach a better understanding&#xD;
of the conceptualisation phase during the production of an automotive vehicle. This&#xD;
knowledge would allow this study to be part of the ecosystem of the automotive&#xD;
industry. In this study the prototype is also explored further to satisfy other&#xD;
industries involving the use of modularity in design. The study serves as a&#xD;
foundation for further research into the conceptual phase of an automotive vehicle&#xD;
together with other conceptual and modularity applications.
