Abstract: L-ISTORJA ftit magħrufa tal-patrijott Malti, it-tabib
Mattew alias Ġużeppi Callus, bdiet taħkem l-
immaġinazzjoni tal-pubbliku Malti mill-bidu tas-seklu dsatax
(kmieni wara t-tluq ta' l-Ordni) 'il quddiem, mitejn u ħamsin
sena wara ġrajjietu, bil-kitbiet ta' Jean de Bosredon Ransijat,
William Eton, Dominique Miege, GianAnton Vassallo, Ramiro
Barbaro di San Giorgio, Guze Muscat Azzopardi u ohrajn
warajhom. Dawn kollha siltu l-ġrajja minn dokument tas-seklu sbatax - kitba ta' Dun Filippu Borgia - li, b'xorti
ħazina tfixkel l-isem ta' l-eroj tagħna u sejjaħlu Mattew flok
Ġużeppi kif kien tabilħaqq jismu, imma fl-istess waqt kien
hu li, biex ngħidu hekk, kixef il-borma wara li l-ġrajja ta'
stmellija nsatret kemm setgħet għal sebgħin sena sħaħ biex
ma jiħmarux l-użuh ta' min kellu jdejh maħmuġa. Minkejja
l-isforzi li ċar li kien hemm biex kollox jibqa' moħbi, il-figura
storika ta' Callus ma setgħetx titħassar kif ġieb u laħaq u
saħansitra xi dettalji ta' x'ġara sew u kif temmewlu ħajtu
fuq il-forka għad baqa' ħjiel tagħhom farkivji jigimgħu l-
għabra ta' sekli. L-għan ta' din il-kitba hi sewwasew li
ġġissem b'dokumentazzjoni kemm jista' jkun sħiħa dan il-persunaġġ ewlieni fil-ġlieda għad-drittijiet sagrosanti tal-Maltin fi-ewwel nofs tas-seklu sittax u tikxef kemm tista'
dettalji tal-komplott fuq ħajtu mill-Gran Mastru De Valette
biex tlaħħam il-qafas tal-ġrajjiet li għaddielna Borgia.

Authors: Fiorini, Stanley
Abstract: The recent controversy over the opening of certain new thoroughfares in
Dingli has focussed the attention of many, who are genuinely interested in
our heritage, on the ruins of an old arched structure, a church, a little-known and
overlooked site, between Triq is-Sienja and Triq il-M.U.S.E.U.M., which has to
date eluded the attention of researchers. I was first made aware of the structure
some twelve years ago when it was pointed out to me by Prof. Nicholas Vella
of the Classics and Archaeology Department of the University of Malta, who
noticed it when he was walking towards Dingli along Triq il-Buskett. I have since
learnt that it had only then become uncovered when the roof collapsed after a
heavy downpour. Till then it was hidden from view, tucked away inside a derelict
farmhouse whose owners never appreciated that it was the ruins of a church. The
owners inform me that it had been inherited, through the Tanti branch of the
family, for several generations; to be noted, is that in 1687, 28.5% of all Tantis in
Malta were to be found in Dingli.

Authors: Fiorini, Stanley; Gauci, John Baptist
Abstract: The purpose of this presentation is threefold. We start by giving a set of
new necessary and sufficient conditions for the Zarankiewicz conjecture on the crossing
number of complete bipartite graphs. These conditions are expressed in terms of the
crossing numbers' divisibility properties and their expressibility as polynomials. We then
examine the Cartesian Product of two graphs, and give an alternative proof to that given by
Klesc regarding the crossing number of a particular family of graphs. In the last section, we
consider Generalized Petersen Graphs and calculate for the first time the crossing number
of another family of graphs.
