    <title>Multiple discrimination in law</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/10909</link>
    <description>Title: Multiple discrimination in law
Authors: Howard, Erica
Abstract: This paper provides an introduction to the issue of multiple discrimination and the problems it presents in law. It analyses how the law in many European countries deals with cases of multiple discrimination. It will discuss the GendeRace Project, a project&#xD;
which aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of racial discrimination laws in a gender&#xD;
perspective, and some of its findings. This paper will also examine some alternative ways of addressing multiple discrimination in law and will give examples of good practice, some of which are based on the findings of the GenderRace project. The focus of the lessons that can be learned from these examples will be on the European Union level.
Description: The paper forms part of the project 'GenderRace - The Use of Racial Anti-Discrimination Laws: Gender and Citizenship in a Multicultural Context', funded by the EU Seventh Framework Programme, Grant Agreement - SSH7-CT-2007-217237; Acknowledgement: The University of Malta would like to acknowledge its gratitude to the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality for their permission to upload this work on OAR@UoM. <title>Gender mainstreaming in practice : factsheet</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/10791</link>
    <description>Title: Gender mainstreaming in practice : factsheet
Abstract: The idea of gender mainstreaming was developed by the United Nations (UN) community and appeared for the first time in international texts after the UN’s Third World Conference on Women in Nairobi in 1985. One of the several aims of gender mainstreaming is to ensure that the goal of a policy, project, programme, action or work practice takes into consideration the needs of women and men, boys and girls, and that the policy addresses these needs.

    <description>Title: Underreporting of discriminatory incidents in Malta : a research study
Abstract: The aim of this research was ta analyse the reasons that inhibit people from reporting cases of discrimination that they go through to responsible bodies. This research sought to identify factors which lead to underreporting of discriminatory incidents, the responsible bodies to investigate such cases, to determine whether the persons suffering discrimination perceived their experience as such and finally made recommendations on how to better the situation in Malta.

    <title>A gender sensitivity manual</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/10789</link>
    <description>Title: A gender sensitivity manual
Abstract: Gender equality emanates out of the advancement of human rights and is a fundamental aspect of democratic citizenship. It belongs to the basic and universally recognised civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. Infringement of such rights hinders societies from achieving the goals and benefits of development. The prohibition to discriminate on a number of grounds is well ingrained in Maltese Legislation, including Chapter IV - Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of the Individual, of the Maltese Constitution, which arches over all other legislation.
