    <title>A review of air passenger rights within the European Union</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/117831</link>
    <description>Title: A review of air passenger rights within the European Union
Abstract: Air passenger rights within the European Union are governed by a set of regulations collectively known&#xD;
the "EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation." These regulations establish the rights of air passengers in the event of flight disruptions such as cancellations, delays, denied boarding, and other issues. The&#xD;
regulation applies to all flights departing from an EU airport, as well as flights arriving at an EU airport&#xD;
operated by an EU-based airline.&#xD;
Key provisions of the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation include:&#xD;
1) Right to Compensation: Passengers may be entitled to compensation if their flight is canceled or&#xD;
delayed significantly, depending on the length of the delay and the flight distance.&#xD;
Compensation amounts range from €250 to €600, depending on the circumstances.&#xD;
2) Right to Care and Assistance: In case of flight delays or cancellations, airlines are required to&#xD;
provide passengers with care and assistance, including meals, refreshments, hotel&#xD;
accommodation (if necessary), and transportation between the airport and accommodation.&#xD;
3) Right to Refund or Re-routing: Passengers have the option to choose between a full refund of&#xD;
their ticket or re-routing to their end destination if their flight is canceled.&#xD;
4) Right to Compensation for Denied Boarding: If passengers are denied boarding due to&#xD;
overbooking, they are entitled to compensation, provided they checked in on time and met all&#xD;
other requirements.&#xD;
5) Information and Assistance: airlines must inform passengers about their rights under the&#xD;
regulation and provide information about flight status, delays, and cancellations.&#xD;
6) Extraordinary Circumstances: airlines are exempt from paying compensation in cases of&#xD;
"extraordinary circumstances" that are beyond their control, such as severe weather, air traffic&#xD;
control strikes, and security risks.&#xD;
7) Compensation for Connecting Flights: If passengers miss a connecting flight due to a delay or&#xD;
cancellation of their previous flight, they may be eligible for compensation.&#xD;
8) Notice of Cancellation or Delay: airlines are required to inform passengers of flight cancellations&#xD;
and delays at least 14 days in advance. If the notice is shorter, compensation may be applicable.&#xD;
It is important to note that these regulations apply to all flights within the EU, regardless of the airline's&#xD;
origin, and to flights departing from an EU airport operated by any airline. Passengers must file their&#xD;
claims with the airline operating the flight, and if they are not satisfied with the airline's response, they&#xD;
can escalate the matter to the national enforcement bodies responsible for air passenger rights in their&#xD;
respective EU member state.

    <title>The criminalisation of parental child abduction in Malta : a comparative analysis</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/117830</link>
    <description>Title: The criminalisation of parental child abduction in Malta : a comparative analysis
Abstract: The aim of this study is to compare and analyze the criminal laws in another country&#xD;
with regards to parental child abduction, as a basis for future research to propose&#xD;
possible amendments to the Maltese Criminal Code in this respect.&#xD;
Chapter 1 starts by delving into literature review primarily into the Hague Child&#xD;
Abduction Convention of 1980, followed by Maltese existing laws and the United&#xD;
Kingdom criminal laws with regards to parental child abduction. Chapter 2 will explain&#xD;
the methodology opted for this research, the reasons why the researcher chose this&#xD;
methodology and also describes some of its strengths and weaknesses. In Chapter 3,&#xD;
Malta’s position on parental child abduction, including different judgements, will be&#xD;
reviewed. Through Chapter 4, the UK’s position on parental child abduction, including&#xD;
the characteristics of parental child abduction, the criminal sanctions and sentencing&#xD;
related to the offence will be discussed. Finally, Chapter 5 concludes the dissertation.&#xD;
This is where the researcher proposes possible recommendations for future research&#xD;
which could be carried out to better comprehend this topic and possibly aid in future&#xD;
law amendments.
