Title: The zoom of a hornet : writers in the shadow of war
Abstract: This critical essay explores the psychological allure of conflict and the ethical responsibility of the writer in an age of "spectacle" warfare. Drawing on the insights of Virginia Woolf and Doris Lessing, Morska critiques the modern tendency to treat distant violence as a "video game" and warns against the "euphoric lie" of militaristic rhetoric. She concludes that the writer’s role is to act as a global conscience, "thinking peace into existence" and resisting the language of destruction through reflective, humane prose.
