Title: Malta National Poisons Centre
Abstract: Robert Louis Stevenson, the Scottish novelist - best
known for books which we treasured in our childhood like
Treasure Island- was a remarkable man, despite being
seriously sick for most of his life, most probably with
bronchiectasis; he was a prolific writer and traveller till the
very end, dying in Samoa aged 44.
His masterpiece the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde explores the interplay between a kind respected
doctor Dr Henry Jekyll and his alter ego the murderous Mr
Edward Hyde. One of the most prominent interpretations
of this novel remains the examination of the duality
of humanity, expressed as an inner struggle between
good and evil. [excerpt]

Title: Cytoreductive surgery for advanced tubo-ovarian cancer : a paradigm shift
Authors: Brincat, Mark
Abstract: Complete macroscopic cytoreduction is the best
prognostic variable a patient could experience
during treatment for advanced ovarian cancer.
Malta needs to make great strides to satisfy
European-standard quality indicators for surgical
management of advanced gynaecological cancer,
and to progress toward 5-year survival rates of
neighbouring countries. Surgical cytoreductive
management requires a dedicated centralised team
that can provide subspecialised multidisciplinary
care. This article provides an overview of the role of
cytoreductive surgery along the disease trajectory
of advanced tubo-ovarian cancer.

Title: An overview of superficial and medium-depth chemical peels : part 2
Authors: Fenech Magrin, Anna Maria
Abstract: A chemical peel is the application of a chemical agent
to the skin, which causes controlled and predictable
destruction of a part or entire epidermis, with or
without the dermis. This ultimately results in an
improved appearance of the skin, removal of superficial
lesions and regeneration of new epidermal and
dermal tissue.
