Cargo ships were becoming battle ships and thus they started to become more decorated. This decoration included painting and sculpture, but unfortunately it was not considered as an art form and rarely documented. The Arberesch - as the Albanians of Italy are known - were originally allowed to settle in Palazzo Adriano by the Abbot of Fossanova and Casamare who at the time was the landowner of that area.
