Kings and emperors who wanted to impove and enrich their kingdoms knew that they could do so if they introduce new laws and remove ones which were no longer applicable to their kingdoms. Justinian I, along with the aid of many experts, compiled a collection of laws titled and still being known as the ‘Codice di Giustiniano’. Others followed suit; Frederick II was a Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily in 1231, as well as Grand Masters António Manoel de Vilhena in 1723 and De Rohan in 1784. In this article, Mamo examines how different codes of laws were applied to different parts of the world.
