    <description>Title: The double bass in music history and in the performance of chamber music
Abstract: To the best of my knowledge, no topics on the history of the double bass covered in my&#xD;
dissertation have been presented to university in the form of academic dissertations.&#xD;
My research on the history of double bass is mainly based on personal inquiry in form of&#xD;
talks and discussions with international luthiers and colleagues of the Malta Philharmonic&#xD;
orchestra, and supervision and practical work on the performance of chamber music with&#xD;
my supervisor Dr Hans-Jürgen Nagel.

    <description>Title: What is the value of dance movement as a healing intervention for multi-syndrome conditions, predominantly Fibromyalgia?
Abstract: This paper investigates dance as a medium of relief for people with Multi-symptom syndromes with special reference to those coping with Fibromyalgia. Multi-symptom syndromes and Fibromylagia are explored and explained in order to make substantial grounds for electing dance as a potential strategy to relieve symptoms. Dance is broadly defined as a brief historical timeline is conveyed, and its characteristics are discussed. Finally its holistic benefits are examined with regard to Fibromyalgia/ Multi-symptom syndromes symptoms. To illustrate and present a hypothesis, a case study of the author and her sister was analysed.

    <title>Redefining the female body : shifts in representation of gender as identifiable on stage, with special reference to two versions of 'Swan lake'</title>

    <description>Title: Redefining the female body : shifts in representation of gender as identifiable on stage, with special reference to two versions of 'Swan lake'
Abstract: Dance is a dynamic and interdisciplinary art that is influenced by developments in society which include evolving attitudes and perceptions in relation to gender. Against this scenario, this study seeks to elicit a better understanding of the correlation between gender and dance. More specifically, it offers an in-depth analysis on how the shift in representation of gender has redefined the female body in dance. Modern dance pioneers like Isadora Duncan and Ruth St. Denis have had a remarkable influence upon the representation of the female body and its empowerment on stage; however this study focuses on only one genre of dance, ballet. In providing a broader understanding of the shifts in the representation of gender and by analysing how these shifts have been transmitted onto the stage, this dissertation complements other studies that focus upon the interrelationship between gender and dance. Whilst contributing towards enhancing knowledge on the subject matter, I hope that this study will also serve to promote more awareness on the relationship between gender and dance among dance artists in Malta. Such awareness would further enrich the knowledge that local dance artists already possess.

    <title>The goose step : the effect of politics on dance and performance</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/10287</link>
    <description>Title: The goose step : the effect of politics on dance and performance
Abstract: The purpose of this dissertation is to gain knowledge of the political repercussions on dance. This study uses research on history to provide contexts on right and left-wing politics. The chosen political ideologies are those that have adopted the goose step (GS) within their military armies. Theories have been further investigated to contextualise and discuss what the performing body needs to do to complete the action. Semiotics facilitates the analysis of the case studies used, regarding the respective choreographies that include the GS. Thus, the study provides results that have been reasoned with the help of this research, and explains further the purpose of military connotations used in dance.
