In ancient civilizations one looks in vain for a true concept of the person. Apart from the Christian revelation the notion of person does not even exist. Theologians in the early Church formulated a concept of the person in order to make some sense out of the mysteries of the Trinity and the Incarnation. The more the concept of person was looked at through philosophical lens, the more theologians allowed this concept to move out of their exclusive territory.
