<description>Title: Acute myocardial infarction in diabetics
Abstract: A prospective case-control study of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with co-morbid non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus was carried out. The 3-month mortality was 17.3% in diabetics and 10.2% in controls ( p &lt; 0.05). Diabetic subjects received thrombolytic therapy less often than controls ( p &lt; 0.03 ). There was no size. A history of previous angina pectoris was commoner in diabetics ( p &lt; 0.05). Duration of diabetes as well as the presence of proliferative retinopathy and autonomic neuropathy were correlated with pump failure; autonomic neuropathy was also correlated with mortality. The presence of other major diabetic complications and tightness of diabetic control had no influence on outcome.
