Architects and their buildings have always been inevitably intertwined with ideas about what is beautiful and what is not. Besides, the subject has also been intertwined with unfolding events in the political, religious, intellectual, technological and cultural fields. A stimulating talk on architectural history, therefore, very much depends on the nature of the visual support that is provided and on the presentation of the subject in its wider context.
