    <description>Title: Malta u l-ewro = Malta &amp; the euro
Abstract: As of the year 2008, the euro zone experienced a crisis from which it still has not recovered. follows the events that marked the crisis as they occurred from 2012 to the beginning of 2015. It continues the story from where the first book in this series left off at end 2011. What led to the crisis? What did Europe do - is doing to overcome it? The book shows how problems caused by Europe's enormous debts morphed into a tough and different challenge: how to reverse the economic stagnation that keeps unemployment very high. explains events from a Maltese perspective. If you really wish to understand their impact on our national currency you must read this book.</description>

    <title>European elections : so what?</title>
    <link>https://www.um.edu.mt/library/oar/handle/123456789/7272</link>
    <description>Title: European elections : so what?
Abstract: You know the European election is coming up?&#xD;
Between 4 and 7 June 2009, 375 million electors&#xD;
across 27 countries will elect the European&#xD;
Parliament. There’s no other election like it; no&#xD;
one else makes parliamentary democracy work&#xD;
at this level, let alone can show thirty years’&#xD;
history of making it a reality.&#xD;
For a continent where not so long ago people&#xD;
were shooting at each other, glaring at each&#xD;
other across an iron curtain or, for all too many,&#xD;
living under totalitarian or authoritarian&#xD;
oppression, it’s a fair achievement.&#xD;
But what does this all mean for real people? Why&#xD;
should people go out on election day to cast&#xD;
their votes? Many Europeans still feel unfamiliar&#xD;
with their parliament, and unclear about what difference it makes to them who sits there

    <title>The development of eServices in an enlarged EU : eGovernment and eHealth in Malta</title>

    <description>Title: The development of eServices in an enlarged EU : eGovernment and eHealth in Malta
Abstract: In 2005, IPTS launched a project which aimed to assess the developments in eGovernment, eHealth and eLearning in the 10 New Member States at national, and at cross-country level. At that time, the 10 New Member States were Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovenia, and Slovakia. A report for each country was produced, describing its government and health systems and the role played by eGovernment and eHealth within these systems. Each report then analyzes, on the basis of desk research and expert interviews, the major achievements, shortcomings, drivers and barriers in the development of eGovernment and eHealth in one of the countries in question. This analysis provides the basis for the identification and discussion of national policy options to address the major challenges and to suggest R&amp;D issues relevant to the needs of each country – in this case, Malta. In addition to national monographs, the project has delivered a synthesis report, which offers an integrated view of the developments of each application domain in the New Member States. Furthermore, a prospective report looking across and beyond the development of the eGovernment, eHealth and eLearning areas has been developed to summarize policy challenges and options for the development of eServices and the Information Society towards the goals of Lisbon and i2010.
