<description>Title: The child is the future of the Church, in puero spes...
Abstract: The Church has always been convinced of this truth. With her eyes turned on the future, she has given pre-eminent importance to the pastoral development of children. The component parts of this concern make up a very long list; education, medical care, associations, etc. The care of children is at the heart of the Church's concern for humanity. We now realize, however, that negative consequences follow when we do fully appreciate this part of our ministry. The Church has always been a force which is in the vanguard with regard to coming to the aid of, and supporting, the weak when they cry for help. This year is dedicated to the Child ... and it is appropriate that we as Superiors of Religious Orders who have all children of God so dear to our hearts, voice our feelings and in the words of our Holy Father the Pope "pray to our Father in heaven to help each one of us to endow our work on behalf of children with the qualities of active goodness, compelling example, and sell-giving love."
