Abstract: Epigenetics is defined as 'somatically inheritable changes that are not accompanied by alterations in DNA sequence'. DNA methylation, histone modifications and non-coding RNAs are all epigenetic mechanisms. Epigenetic aberrations (or epimutations) have been found to be responsible for carcinogenesis. The research of these epimutations is providing a platform for their application in cancer diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutics.</description>

Abstract: Evidence has it that the multi-organ effect of Sars-CoV-2 is primarily attributed to hypercytokinemia, especially in the elderly &amp; immunocompromised. Malta has suffered the brunt of this. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, as of 30 September 2020, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 deaths per 100,000 was 3.6 for Malta, topping the EU/EEA charts. If Covid-19 excess deaths were factored in, Malta would possibly fare better; nonetheless Malta is facing a serious problem stemming from the ingrained laissez-faire attitude of the general public.
