Title: Maltese cigarette trade cards
Abstract: Cigarette cards were originally intended to stiffen the flimsy paper packets in which cigarettes were packed in during those early days. The printing of the manufacturer's name or brand name on the cards followed and a picture on the reverse side was added soon after. Opinions differ as to which cards were issued first in Malta.
