Title: Dark tourism in Malta : witchcraft accusations in front of the Malta inquisition tribunal as a case study
Abstract: The history of humanity is the history of people on the move. People have been travelling in the past centuries for various reasons, be it holiday and leisure, work, or seek medical treatment. The need to travel created the Tourism Industry. The first thing that people understand when they hear the word Tourism is mass tourism. Mass tourism is strictly linked with leisure. Tourism branches into a variety of small niches. These niches are areas of interest that attract a smaller number of tourists but are still an important aspect of the industry. One of these niches is Dark Tourism. Dark Tourism revolves around people who visit places where suffering and death occurred. This thesis will explore the situation of Dark Tourism in Malta by using witchcraft in the Early modern period as a case study. The research focuses on the possibility of Dark Tourism in Malta and will show how witchcraft cases in front of the inquisition can be a good market for those interested in dark tourism. This thesis will identify the seminal work and main theories of Dark Tourism, touching on themes such as supply, demand and motivation. Witchcraft in the Early modern period in Malta will also be discussed. By analysing a questionnaire, interviews, and other primary data, the study will show what people think of Dark Tourism and show their interest in the subject, particularly visiting the Palace of the Inquisitor and Early modern witchcraft-related activities in Malta. This study will employ the mixed methods approach. The research will indicate a lack of general awareness on dark tourism.. that the thesis will conclude that people are interested in witchcraft-related themes and dramatization events. The thesis concludes that there is a market for Dark Tourism, especially in the sphere of witchcraft related themes.

Title: Malta as a food destination : the perspective of tourists who engaged in food activities
Abstract: The relationship between food, culture, tradition and tourism has been widely researched. However, this information lacks to deeply consider the relationship between food from a wider perspective vis-à-vis the touristic activities it generates. This is greatly undervalued especially when globalised food experiences are analysed from the perspective of the tourists themselves. Food experiences are slowly relinquishing their traditional cultural borders. Hence, before aiming at developing a brand image based on haphazard food experiences, it is imperative to examine the perspective of the food tourists through a globalised perspective. Since this approach is relatively in its infant stage, especially in Maltese literature, this research will not look at creating theoretical frameworks and potential predictions. Rather, it will focus on understanding the behaviour and motivators of food tourists in Malta. In the process, the research will also explore the possibility of promoting the Maltese Islands as a contemporary food destination that offers more than just Maltese food.

Title: The application of modified atmosphere packaging in the food industry
Abstract: Food preservation has been an important factor thought out mankind. Today various methods and techniques have been cultured. In this research we are to evaluate the foods that are packed in a plastic firm. Beef in Malta intended for the hospitality mainly comes from foreign countries mostly packed with in a plastic firm. Alleged beef offers diverse shelflife that is intended to be clarified through this research. An explanation about modified atmospheric packaging MAP and vacuum packaging is given so that one could understand the difference. MAP is a much more elaborated technique that only with appropriate knowledge and equipment one can custom. While on the other hand only a vacuum machine and proper plastic bags are required in vacuum packaging. This research will look into contribution of the gases used in MAP and its compositions. A controversial gas will be examined in contrast to oxygen. This study will assistance in storing of food especially beef. Once one has the ability to determine which techniques to use while storing of foods to achieve better shelf life a positive direct impact would finally be valuable for the cost of product and reducing waste. The main aim of this research is to understand an overview of food packaging that could support better purchasing and storing of food mostly of beef in a hospitality kitchen.

Title: The veracity of organic products : a catering perspective
Abstract: According to numerous predictions, demand for organic and locally grown food is on the rise. It might not be popular among most of the population for various reasons; however, it is certain that one part of the population is able to afford it. This is in part the reason why chefs, restaurant owners and other catering facilities should pay attention to these trends and act according to market demands. The local organic food market is still developing, and while we have seen an increase in retail demand and sales, such progress is not still visible in the catering industry. In this
research study, the researcher tries to shed light on the matter, investigating reasons behind such outcome. Other countries have chosen different methods to reach this objective. In Finland, celebrity chefs promote use of organic produce. In Denmark, a fund had been created to support public caterers that opt to go organic. Which are the biggest challenges locally? Will Malta ever have a fully organic catering establishment? This research study investigates this possibility.
