Abstract: Crop insurance plays a crucial role in mitigating the financial risks farmers face, especially in &#xD;
developing countries like Kenya, where agriculture is a significant contributor to the economy. The &#xD;
current conventional insurance solutions frequently have to sufficiently examine the dynamics of the &#xD;
agricultural risk characteristic of such environments. The research aims to reinvent risk assessment &#xD;
and insurance provision by using satellite imaging, weather sensors, and the application of data &#xD;
analysis combined with new forms of insurance, including index insurance, parametric insurance, and &#xD;
micro-insurance. By adopting a systematic approach to the research, this work aims to improve the &#xD;
efficiency and availability of Kenyan farmer’s agricultural insurance products. The advancement of &#xD;
such technology could help lessen the economic volatility brought by volatile climates, destructive &#xD;
pests, and diseases, as well as market volatility, thus strengthening the stability of the farmers and &#xD;
guaranteeing food supply and stability. Further, the research is capable of providing possibilities to &#xD;
boost the economic development of rural areas, encourage ecological and efficient approaches to &#xD;
agriculture, and create poverty reduction and other aspects of socio-economic improvement. Mingling &#xD;
critically with other domains of knowledge in this interdisciplinary endeavour is academically fulfilling &#xD;
while reinforcing the global call for resilience, sustainable, and inclusive agriculture systems deemed &#xD;
socially responsible.

      <title>The effectiveness of training on embedding risk culture</title>

      <description>Title: The effectiveness of training on embedding risk culture
Abstract: Organisations rely heavily on their employees; their performance primarily determines &#xD;
their success. Through ongoing training, companies must invest in their employees' &#xD;
skills and knowledge to remain competitive and adapt to the ever-evolving business &#xD;
landscape. Practical training not only leads to a substantial risk culture by reducing &#xD;
unnecessary risks but also increases efficiency and awareness of potential risks &#xD;
among employees.&#xD;
This research delves into the crucial elements for successful risk training and &#xD;
cultivating a risk-aware culture. To achieve this, organisations must conduct a &#xD;
thorough training needs analysis, establish clear training objectives, provide suitable &#xD;
training facilities, and engage with employees to determine the optimal training &#xD;
program. The study includes participation from individuals across various industries, &#xD;
and the author employed a combination of qualitative and quantitative questionnaires &#xD;
to gather information.&#xD;
According to the research, employees are eager to participate in training programs if &#xD;
they can access the appropriate tools and a supportive environment. The study exam ined five key factors, including "Risk interpretation," "Training tools," "Risk structure," &#xD;
"Training methodology," and "Training enrolment." The findings suggest that demo graphic factors, such as education level, industry, employment status, and type of &#xD;
training, can significantly impact the effectiveness of training initiatives. However, the &#xD;
study did not find a statistically significant relationship between gender, age, or job &#xD;
position and the success of training programs in a professional setting.&#xD;
For training models to be truly effective, there must be open communication between &#xD;
organisations and their employees/trainees. This fosters a training program that is &#xD;
tailored to meet the individual preferences of employees while also aligning with the &#xD;
overarching objectives of the company. A well-crafted training program can profoundly &#xD;
impact an organisation's efficiency, empowering it to achieve strategic goals and meet &#xD;
training needs quickly.

Abstract: This dissertation aims to research how cultural currents influence risk management practices in &#xD;
multinational organisations. It focuses on the frameworks developed by Geert Hofstede and &#xD;
Fons Trompenaars, with a particular emphasis on Trompenaars' dimensions of Universalism vs. &#xD;
Particularism, Neutral vs. Emotional, Specific vs. Diffuse, and Achievement vs. Ascription.&#xD;
A qualitative methodology was applied, conducting surveys with open-ended questions to &#xD;
collect insights from professionals working in multicultural environments, primarily in the banking &#xD;
and financial industry. While Hofstede’s and Trompenaars' frameworks, along with other &#xD;
methodological theories, are reviewed, the central focus remains on Trompenaars' Seven &#xD;
Dimensions of Culture for survey and analysis.&#xD;
The findings demonstrate the critical role of cultural factors in developing organisational risk &#xD;
management strategies. Practical recommendations are provided for improving these strategies&#xD;
in culturally diverse settings, helping organisations to navigate cross-cultural challenges more &#xD;
effectively.&#xD;
Additionally, this research contributes to the existing literature on cultural implications in &#xD;
organisations, focusing specifically on individual behaviour in decision-making processes. It &#xD;
concludes by detailing the key cultural dimensions and discussing their broader impact on risk &#xD;
management, while offering valuable insights for academic researchers and practitioners in &#xD;
cross-cultural organisational studies.

      <title>Complex corporate structures : a risk assessment</title>

      <description>Title: Complex corporate structures : a risk assessment
Abstract: Context&#xD;
This dissertation aims to identify the key risk factors contributing to the complexity of &#xD;
corporate structures and provide a comprehensive framework for the assessment &#xD;
thereto. This in view that there is no clear guidance on how ‘complex corporate &#xD;
structures’ should be measured by different bodies within different sectors and leaves &#xD;
room for interpretation. &#xD;
Complex structures are especially prevalent within the Financial Services industry due &#xD;
to a number of factors, including exposure to different jurisdictions, multiple ownership &#xD;
layers and variety of corporate entities involved in such setups.&#xD;
Purpose&#xD;
This study seeks to evaluate risks associated with the ownership and control structure &#xD;
of financial institutions licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority.&#xD;
This objective was achieved by gathering information from publicly available sources &#xD;
and analysing the various factors contributing to the complexity of corporate &#xD;
structures, such as the presence of entities incorporated in less transparent &#xD;
jurisdictions, use of complex corporate vehicles and elevated number of ownership &#xD;
layers.&#xD;
Methodology&#xD;
Higher risk scenarios, such as increased transparency risks, were identified using a &#xD;
risk scoring methodology specifically designed for this study. These scenarios are &#xD;
further illustrated through case studies that provide tangible evidence of sophisticated &#xD;
ownership structures being misused for activities such as money laundering, &#xD;
corruption, sanctions evasion, and other illicit activities.&#xD;
The study is being performed through a systematic review, referring to literature that is &#xD;
relevant to the topics around the ‘Risk’ ‘Assessment’ of key ‘Indicators’ of what is &#xD;
considered ‘Complex’ in relation to ‘Corporate’ ‘Structures’, in an attempt to address &#xD;
the following research question:&#xD;
What are the key risk indicators contributing to ‘Complex Corporate Structures’&#xD;
and how can these be assessed?
