Imago Dei and brotherhood : the relational call of Genesis 1:26-27

Title: Imago Dei and brotherhood : the relational call of Genesis 1:26-27
Authors: Jančovič, Jozef
Abstract: Shared values and beliefs have the power to unite communities on
both divine and human levels. While society represents the collective
fabric of human interaction, religion embodies the spiritual and moral
dimensions that shape individual and communal identities. This paper
examines the social perspective of universal brotherhood through the
lens of Imago Dei as presented in Genesis 1:26-27. This contribution
contends that this concept offers a timeless and unifying foundation
for understanding human brotherhood. In a world marked by bloody
military and religious conflicts, human brotherhood becomes a very
urgent reality that we want to clarify and support by examining its first
biblical thematization in Gen 1. [extract]

From diversity to symphony : the role of religious traditions

Title: From diversity to symphony : the role of religious traditions
Authors: Ellul, Joseph
Abstract: The topic of this paper traces its origins to an interfaith meeting called
and chaired by the former President of the Republic Dr George Vella
at San Anton Palace, which took place on May 8th 2019 Those present
were all representatives of the various religious traditions and Christian
denominations in Malta. Throughout his introductory speech Dr Vella
presented his audience with an interesting challenge: How can each
of our communities contribute toward the growth and progress of a
healthy society?

Title: The interplay of religion and culture : exploring identity formation
Authors: Zammit, Mark Joseph
Abstract: The objective of this article is to explore how Lucio Gera’s Argentine
theology presents an understanding of religion and culture as vital
components in the formation of personal identity. The article will first
explain the roles of religion and culture, and then demonstrate how
these elements influence identity formation. [extract]

From suspicion to friendship. The dynamics of ecumenism in Malta (1964-2024)

Title: From suspicion to friendship. The dynamics of ecumenism in Malta (1964-2024)
Authors: Scerri, Hector
Abstract: The ecumenical journey is always a challenging one. It is not only a
journey characterised by meanders, but also marked by high alpine
ranges and mountain passes. Travelling in “ecumenical-class” has its
ups and downs; its Alleluia moments are ironically followed, at times,
by Lenten penitential lulls. The ecumenical endeavour entails both the
Doldrums, as well as the Roaring Forties. Malta is no exception. [extract]
