Authors: Sciberras, Paul
Abstract: Introduzzjoni: l-isfida ermenewtika - kif napplikaw
it-Testment il-Qadim għal Kristu Ġesu
Il-Ktieb tas-Salmi jgawdi pożizzjoni ta' awtorità ewlenija kemm
fil-Bibbja Lhudija (il-Testment il-Qadim [TQ]l kif ukoll fil-kanoni
Nisrani. Bħala ktieb ta' innijiet ta' Iżrael, jiġbor fih il-ħajja reliġjuża,
soċjali u teoloġika tal-komunità; jgħaqqad flimkien lamentazzjonijiet,
ringrazzjament, tħeġġiġ u ideoloġija rjali f'korp letterarju wieħed.
Madankollu, is-Salterju ilu magħruf bħala għajn teoloġika li tixhed
għall-Messija Ġesu (bil-Lhudi, miixijaħ), "il-midluk," li l-applikazzjoni
tiegħu għall-
Eschatology (l-aħħar żminijiet) u l-Kristoloġija
(bil-Grieg, Kristàs) tat-Testment il-Ġdid (TĠ) tidentifika ma' Ġesu ta'

An evangelising heart for a hearth : making space for others in a cold world (Acts 27:18 – 28:10)

Title: An evangelising heart for a hearth : making space for others in a cold world (Acts 27:18 – 28:10)
Authors: Sciberras, Paul
Abstract: The account of Paul’s shipwreck and of his three-month stay in Malta, situated within the
We-sections of the Acts of the Apostles, serves a narrative role that captivates the reader
from the outset. The We-sections are those pericopes in which Luke, as author penning
the accounts, also appears as a participant in the events he describes. The shipwreck
account is exceptionally detailed, comparable in its narrative density to the account of
the Passion of Jesus (Lk 22–23) itself, or to the pericope concerning Peter and Cornelius
in the Acts of the Apostles (10–11), the seminal moment, sanctioned by Peter himself, in
which the Jewish-Christian Church is opened to Gentile believers. [excerpt]

A journey of biblical scholarship : the department of sacred scripture, Hebrew and Greek at the University of Malta

Title: A journey of biblical scholarship : the department of sacred scripture, Hebrew and Greek at the University of Malta
Authors: Micallef, Martin
Abstract: The study of Sacred Scripture, alongside the biblical languages of Hebrew
and Greek, has long served as a cornerstone of theological formation and
intellectual inquiry within Christian academic tradition. At the University
of Malta, the formalisation and development of this field found a dedicated
home within the Faculty of Theology through the establishment of the
Department of Sacred Scripture, Hebrew and Greek. The history of this
Department is deeply intertwined with the shifting fortunes of religious
education on the island, shaped by ecclesiastical authority, colonial
influence, and post-conciliar renewal. Initially conceived within a broader
theological curriculum dominated by dogmatic and moral instruction,
the scriptural disciplines gradually acquired a more autonomous and
specialised identity. This transformation was facilitated by the emergence
of dedicated academic chairs, the contributions of key scholars, and the
progressive inclusion of lay students, especially in the post-Vatican II era.

Title: Mons. Prof. Karm Sant, il-qassis, eseġeta u traduttur tal-Bibbja
Authors: Sciberras, Paul
Abstract: Aktarx li x-xoqqa li minnha hu minsuġ bniedem toħroġ b’saħħitha f ’kitbietu.
L-artikli b’suġġetti bibliċi li kiteb il-Monsinjur Professur Dun Karm Sant u saħansitra t-teżi tad-Dottorat li rriċerka u kiteb fl-Università ta’ Malta għallgrad
ta’ Duttur fit-Teoloġija (D.D.) fl-1960 juru rieda pastorali qawwija, nisġa ta’
akkademiku b’qalb ta’ qassis, biex l-Iskrittura, oriġinarjament miktuba bil-Lhudi,
l-Aramajk u l-Grieg, tasal għand il-poplu fi lsien li jista’ jifhmu u jomogħdu.
San Pawl u l-ħajja tal-familja huwa ktejjeb maħruġ mill-Moviment ta’ Kana
fl-1960, fl-okkażjoni taċ-ċentinarju tan-nawfraġju ta’ San Pawl f ’Malta, bi studju
ta’ Dun Karm Sant. Hu ktejjeb sempliċi imma jdur kull rokna ta’ dak li jgħid
l-Appostlu tal-Ġnus fuq il-familja – minn qabel l-għerusija sa meta jormlu. Fl-1967 ippubblika artiklu fir-rivista tal-Għaqda Studenti tat-Teoloġija,
Melita Theologica, fuq l-interpretazzjoni biblika fil-Kostituzzjoni Dommatika
tal-Konċilju Vatikan II, Dei verbum (li ħarġet fit-18 ta’ Novembru 1965), ftit
iktar minn sena wara li Dun Karm kiseb il-lawrja prestiġjuża ta’ Duttur fix-Xjenzi
