Abstract: Saints Cosmas and Damian were the earliest Christians to have been medical men. They were martyrs and are considered as the patron saints of physicians, surgeons and pharmacists. This article deals with the veneration of these two saints in Malta as seen in the expression of the erection of a church in Gozo, the dedication of several altars in various churches, the foundation of a hospital, the naming of hospital wards, the production of paintings and statues, the veneration of relics and the formulation of prayers.
