Abstract: This study summarises issues to be taken into account when dealing with occupational health and safety in various settings such as factories, offices, hospitals, shopping complexes and entertainment venues where security personnel are concerned. The importance of having security personnel trained to deal with eventualities that occur during their tour of duty has a considerable weight on them when they have to deal with several types of problems and the solutions to these problems, which are significantly different from those of other occupations. This importance stems out when, through training and education they can assess the risk associated with their work. It should instil in them a sense of confidence and conviction which will serve them in enhancing their occupational performance through the eyes of the general public and society at large. Based on these results a review of their activities and safety level needs has been drawn up to provide a basis for their level of training.
