Abstract: This study aims in highlighting for the first time the situation of women in decision-making positions in the Hotel Industry in Malta and to understand better why women are absent from such posts. The scenario is set within the 3-star, 4-star and 5-star hotels. This study sets the scene for the research problems. It discusses women's situation within the context of the world of work. Different perceptions of men and women in the workforce environment are also discussed. The situation in the U.K and in Malta within the Hotel Industry is presented. It analyses the information obtained from these hotels and discusses the findings from interviews that were carried out with women in decision-making posts.
