This is a report of a previously healthy 20-year-old male presenting with the sensation of a foreign object being stuck in the throat and difficulty speaking after the ingestion of 2 prickly pears. Tests were performed, confirming an esophageal perforation which was managed medically. The patient was discharged after 7 days in hospital with no complications.en_GB
