Abstract: | As the political crisis escalates, the role of the media in mediating between politicians and the public becomes even more crucial. But it is also highly probable that Malta will face another election without having first reformed this sector. One particular institution which gains paramount importance in election is the Broadcasting Authority, which often ends up on the receiving end of complaints made by political parties. Aquilina still considers the Broadcasting Authority as very relevant to Maltese society, since it regulates the broadcasting media and ensures that they adhere to the standards required by law.
