Issue Date: 2016
Abstract: Purpose : This study aims to give a clearer indication of how Organisations based in Malta use technology as part of their recruitment process and strategy. A need was felt to explore deeper into this subject as there are no studies locally covering this topic in a broader apart from social media by itself. Design : The research adopted was a qualitative one where semi-structured open ended questions were asked to the participants in order to allow for a more seamless and free discussion. Nine organisations with at least ten years within their markets were interviewed. These interviews provided a deeper understanding of how technology is adapted within the recruitment process and strategies of these same organisations. Findings : As time goes forward organisations are looking to always get the ‘best fit’ employee and as such greater effort is being put into recruitment. The findings suggest that technology may be of help to this as many of them agreed that they are getting better candidates in a shorter time. From these interviews it also arises that each organisation has a different process than the other. Thus all in all one can say that yes, technology has disrupted the recruitment process, not to mention the disruptions in other HR practices. Other technologies were found to be either too complicated to invest in or organisations feel that there isn’t the need to implement. This study found also some traditional methods that are being withdrawn from organisations since they are forced to try new ideas to attract better talent Value : This study provides a starting point for other students or researchers looking to delve deeper into the subject. It creates value in a way that organisations can look at this and better understand how the adoption of technology would help them in finding the perfect candidate.
