In Virtual Faith Tom Beaudoin describes the church as "laughably out of touch; [having] hopelessly droll music, antediluvian technology, retrograde social teaching, and hostile or indifferent attitude towards popular culture." This is, unfortunately, the common (mis)perception of the church by many in the twenty-first century. Theological explanations seem to be too archaic to have any bearing in the lives of many and this dismissal is often attributed to the current postmodern culture we are said to live in.en_GB
