Abstract: This study tackles the various reasons why students misbehave in class. It explores the causes, both within and outside the school community, that encourage youngsters to misbehave. Various theories in this regard were consulted and several suggestions were outlined in order to help teachers deal with this type of behaviour effectively. The students’ perspectives in this regard were also taken into consideration to provide valid conclusions and suggestions. The local and international studies demonstrate that challenging behaviour occurs mostly due to inefficient teaching strategies, inappropriate school environment, students’ characteristics and emotional deficits. They also prove that challenging behaviour in classrooms is a daily challenge for teachers. As a conclusion, the study highlights the importance of listening to students’ ideas and to take them into consideration. This will create inclusive schools which generate holistic education.
