Title: | The Good Shepherd and the Hired Shepherds in JN10:1-42 |
Authors: | Camilleri, Thomas |
Keywords: | Bible. John -- Criticism, interpretation, etc. Jesus Christ -- Person and offices -- Biblical teaching |
Issue Date: | 2014 |
Abstract: | This long essay will deal mainly with the Johannine image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd as presented in Jn10:1-42. In doing so, I will compare this image with that of the hired shepherds mentioned in the same discourse. There lies one of the Christological controversies that permeate throughout the Gospel according to John. I will therefore try to bring forward the meaning of the different images and symbols referred to in this discourse while showing the close relationship of Jesus with his disciples. |
