Abstract: | This paper is an attempt to bring together some ideas of the average man in Malta about animals and to show their place in ancient and modern folk-life as reflected in special terminology, and animal folklore, i.e. animal tales and legends, proverbs, songs, nursery rhymes, superstitions, beliefs, folk-medicine, etc. The animal element in the Maltese language has helped in the process of formation and growth of the language. |
