Abstract: | Coral has been prized for centuries due to its perceived protective qualities against disease, the devil and harmful supernatural forces. Fashioned into beads, horns, hands, or left in its natural state in the form of little branches, coral talismans were worn on the person, and especially by children who were particularly susceptible to these dangers. |
