The identification of the competitive and the limiting factors served as a background in assessing the operational strategies of the firms and how they match to enhance internal and external competitive performance. This approach also assists in appraising this manufacturing industry future and the way forward to maintain their success. The case study research has been completed by the appropriation of qualitative data. The primary data was accomplished through face-to-face interviews carried out with operations managers of four leading firms. Secondary data was instrumental in the exploratory phase of the research to frame up various courses of action and identify the measures of performance and capabilities of manufacturing companies. The outcomes of the research show that in view of the industry’s dynamic environment and continuous challenges Maltese pharmaceutical manufacturer believe in a prosperous future. As long as the people in the organisation challenge the competition and use their capabilities to enhance the location advantages, companies can develop further.
