Abstract: What do 35,723 vacant properties, finding a parking space and Magħtab have in common? They are all part of a research exercise currently under way at the Planning Directorate. The work is being carried, out in the run-up to a reviewed Structure Plan set to be the new "bible" for land use in the Maltese Islands for the period 2000-2020. No fewer than 16 study projects are currently under way on topics ranging from housing to waste and from archaeology to transport.
