| dc.description.abstract | Many Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face a number of inherent constraints in their quest for economic growth, mostly arising from small size and insularity. Many of these states also face self-inflicted constraints, notably poor governance practices, leading to waste of scarce public sector resources, loss of investor confidence and worsening social conditions in the country. This chapter demonstrates how improving governance will help build economic resilience to enable SIDS to withstand shocks, particularly in an increasingly globalising environment, arguing that good governance positively affects allocation and use of resources, and serves to boost investor confidence. | en_GB |
