Abstract: In the final part of his feature (part 1: Jan 17/2016, pp. 38-39 *Link below), Attard goes onto discuss 8 more cases studies of uxoricide in Malta. Starting from the 1930's, he references the backdrop, police inquiries, witness testimonies, for each with a more detailed look into a selected few. In every case study, common motives still remain: jealousy, envy, hate and infidelity. As do the severity of the court rulings which resembled those from the century before. However, according to Attard as the crime rates increased by the 70’s leading up to the 80’s “prison sentences meted out in the Criminal Court ranged from four to 30 years”. This feature also includes a further 5 photographs as well as a copy of the Privy Council document re: the Joseph Connell case (1947).
