Health is not synonymous with the absence of disease and infirmity. It reflects a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Economic development, agricultural improvement and population trends directly influence the health and well-being of a nation. During the course of years, man has changed his habits of work and the growth of urbanisation has altered his social and environmental conditions. The ability to adapt is an important feature of health and in all aspects of the problem, nutritional factors are prominent for they influence the response of the human being to the conditions of stress, though it is realised that nutrition is only part of the wider study of human biology.en_GB
