Abstract: | Saints were very appealing figures for the Maltese in past times especially during the times of war. Holy cards were imported mainly from Italy, France and Germany and, since companies who used to produce them were in constant competition, the cards ended up having vibrant colours which increased their aesthetic appeal. |
