Abstract: | It was recently reported that the attendant of an improvised car park at the Gianpula entertainment complex, limits of Żebbuġ, was making a hefty sum each weekend, running in the thousands by his own admission, despite allegedly not paying the commensurate tax returns on such a plum sum. The news triggered a flurry of online comments, almost all ex pres s ing revulsion that the attendant was raking in so much money on a single weekend. This res ponse typically reveals how, as a nation, we always manage to spectacularly mistake the wood for the trees. |
