dc.description.abstractBadger observed that native musical instruments were getting into disuse. The few remaining zaqq musicians were scattered around the island of Malta and Gozo. The few musicians known as zaqq players tended to pass their knowledge on from generation to generation. One such family was that of the Bugejas known as Tal-Grixti. Three generations of the family played zaqq, tanbur, or both instruments.en_GB
