Abstract:	Zammit Maempel follows the travels of Thomas Spratt, in the company of his colleagues Thomas Graves and Edward Forbes, around the Mediterranean aboard a vessel named "Beacon". The purpose of the three accomplished individuals was to carry out studies related to geology and one of the countries involved was Malta.
