dc.description.abstract | Architectural history can be one of the most boring or most exciting subjects to talk about. Architects and their buildings have always been inevitably intertwined with ideas about what is beautiful and what is not. Besides, the subject has also been intertwined with unfolding events in the political, religious, intellectual, technological and cultural fields. A stimulating talk on architectural history, therefore, very much depends on the nature of the visual support that is provided and on the presentation of the subject in its wider context. It is precisely my intention to do this in this lecture about the splendour of Malta’s Baroque architectural heritage. I sincerely hope that my audience will not regret having come to hear what I have to say! | en_GB |
