Abstract: The research undertaken endeavours to evaluate Malta’s current Tourism Product and whether or not it is sustainable in the long-run. Terms such as carrying capacity, mass tourism, tourism product development, sustainability, quality tourism and the tourism value chain are applied to and evaluated in conjunction with the island’s current Tourism Offer, with special attention to the hotel sector. What is more, the research also endeavours to assess Malta’s potential of becoming a quality destination and whether or not the hotel sector is equipped to tackle such a change.
