dc.description.abstractThe perfect competition model is associated with maximum consumer welfare. As new firms enter the market, supply will increase and prices will go down to a point where all supernormal profits of firms (i.e. mark-up over all production costs) are eliminated. Firms at this point will be forced to produce at the lowest cost possible.en_GB
