Abstract: Giorgio Mitrovich, born in 1795 in Senglea, co-founded the first Comitato Generale Maltese and advocated for freedom of the press during the initial years of the British colonisation of the islands. With four other members, he drew up and signed a petition, the 1832 Memorial, demanding administrative reforms. A photograph believed to be the only remaining image of Giorgio Mitrovich will be donated to Malta by his great-great-grandson, Garth Metrovich.
