Abstract: | As with many other features of the national life, music in Malta seems to preserve racial and social vestiges of the country's distant past, ·when it formed a link between Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The Maltese cultured style of composition is purely European, and has been profoundly influenced by studies in Italy and elsewhere, but the Folk Music has an Eastern flavour. |
